It’s no secret that many of us enjoy following adorable cats or dogs on social media. There’s just something about seeing their cute photos that can instantly brighten our day. And perhaps one of the most beloved dogs that captivated the internet is none other than Manny the Frenchie.
Saying Goodbye to a Special Friend
Sadly, at the age of 12, Manny has crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving us with a heavy heart. Amber Chavez, Manny’s owner, took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news, struggling to find the right words to do justice to Manny’s memory. But she made it clear that Manny was more than just a dog, he was truly special.
“My sweet baby boy, my pigs, my everything has crossed the rainbow bridge. We are absolutely heartbroken, and to say we miss him so much is an understatement. I personally will never be the same without him,” Amber wrote.
From Unwanted Pup to Internet Sensation
Manny the Frenchie, named after boxer Manny Pacquiao, was adopted as a young pup by Amber Chavez and Jon Huang when no one else wanted him. Little did they know that their decision would lead them to an incredible journey. Manny quickly became a star, capturing the hearts of millions around the world.
“He was actually the unwanted one in his litter,” shared Jon Huang. “The breeder was like, ‘we’ll give you a discount if you take him.’ He’s the bootleg special dog.”
But it didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Manny was far from unwanted. With his undeniable cuteness, Manny attracted attention from day one. Soon, photos of him curled up in a bathroom sink went viral, propelling him to worldwide internet fame.
A Star-Studded Journey
As Manny’s popularity grew, he caught the attention of numerous celebrities. He became a model for Martha Stewart’s PetSmart line and even made appearances on shows like Steve Harvey. Not to mention, the likes of Snoop Dogg and boxer Miguel Cotto proudly sported Manny merchandise.
With the rise of Manny’s fame, his owners, Amber and Jon, recognized the opportunity to give back. Amber left her job to become Manny’s full-time manager, and together they used his viral fame to raise funds for important causes. Money raised from Manny’s merchandise and events went to organizations such as the French Bulldog Rescue Network, ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, the Special Olympics, and the National Cancer Society.
“Manny likes to give back to his friends,” expressed Amber back in 2013.
A Legacy of Joy and Giving
After years of bringing joy to people’s lives and helping those in need, Manny has now crossed over the rainbow bridge. Although the cause of his passing remains unclear, it’s important to remember the impact he had on the world.
“We know how much Manny was loved around the world and find some comfort in knowing so many people are sharing in our grief,” Amber wrote in her statement. “I will miss him and honor him forever and beyond.”
Rest in peace, Manny. Your infectious happiness and adorable presence will be greatly missed. Thank you for bringing so much joy to countless people over the years.
