In a sad social media post, Katy Perry talked about the death of one of her managers.

In honor of Martin Kirkup on Thursday, the 39-year-old singer shared some photos of herself with him.

His age was 76 when he died.

The Dark Horse hitmaker said she had to write about Martin because he was so special, even though he didn’t like social media.

Katy wrote on Instagram, “It took me a while to make this post…something about post-ing it makes it all feel final…” And even though Martin didn’t like social media and all of its sensationalism, I feel compelled to say how important he was and still is to me.

She went on, “I say this because I don’t think anyone really “dies.” I think they just go to the next world.” They’re no longer here; they’re everywhere now.

Katy also said, “Martin Kirkup was one of my bosses at Direct Management for almost 20 years.” He always said, “Show me the data, the P&L, the science, the facts!” He was the leader of our group. If nothing else worked, he would just say something cheeky, clever, or eloquent with an English accent and everyone would agree with him.

“Martin helped keep me safe.” The man worked hard to get me what I deserved and praised the strong woman I am.

“I’ve been so lucky to have an AMAZING team by my side for almost 20 years, even before I had a kitchen sink or a window to throw things out of!”

“Martin, along with all of my managers, have literally fought day in and day out for my voice to be heard, and I have SO much pride, respect and admiration for my team at Direct Management.”

The British music executive heard some of Katy’s new music before he died, she also said.

“Three days before he died, he finally heard some of what I had been working on and how happy and loving it was.

“I could tell he was excited for the future, and I was so glad I had that last moment to make him proud in my own little way.”

Ending her sad note, Katy wrote, “We didn’t get to physically say goodbye, but I know he knows how much respect and admiration I have for him, and his hearty chuckles and wicked retorts continue to echo through my mind.”

Variety says Martin’s wife Lale Kirkup, daughter Melisa Kirkup Blatt, son John Kirkup, and three grandchildren, Sam, Abigail, and Ivy, will miss him.

NO MORE IDOL

As of Monday, Katy had said she was leaving American Idol after six years as a judge.

The singer from Fireworks is leaving the show at the end of the season to work on new music.

“So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol,” Katy said on Jimmy Kimmel Live when she talked about her choice.

“I really enjoy Idol a lot. It put me in touch with the heart of America, but I need to feel my own heartbeat.

“I love the show so much but I wanna go and see the world and maybe bring new music.”

“Well, what do you know? In September, I’m going to be at Rock in Rio, a huge music festival in Brazil. “It’s really exciting,” she said.

“Everyone around the world is excited, but my fans in Brazil are especially thrilled.”

“So this year is going to be really, really exciting for all pop star girls.”

“Maybe I’ll come back if they’ll have me one day!”

NEW MUSIC

Katy’s fans think she’s going to release a new album soon now that she’s moving on. They’ve been begging the star to put out new music for a long time.

An Instagram post by Katy showed her posing in a sexy black dress with a deep V-neck and big cutouts in the middle. The post hinted at her career moves.

A lot of silver butterfly pins held it together. This is a symbol that has been in a few of her music videos.
