Kate Cassidy heartbreakingly admitted that she still calls Liam: “The voice on the other end of the line scared me”

One Direction star Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy sent a devastating text to him before his tragic death

Influencer Kate Cassidy has revealed she sent boyfriend Liam Payne one final text before his tragic death.

The former One Direction star died at the age of 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October last year. Kate had been with him in the country before she decided to return to their Miami home while he stayed there. Just days later, Liam tragically died.

In a new interview, Kate has revealed she sent him a text message that would become her last. Kate had told Liam: “I can’t wait for you to get home and see the house.” She had decorated their home for Halloween, which was supposed to be a surprise upon Liam’s return.

Kate admitted she does not remember their final phone conversation but they enjoyed horseback riding on their last day together. She took what would become her last photo of Liam as he sat on a horse just before she left the country to return to their home alone. In her new interview, Kate admitted: “He looks so happy.”

Kate and Liam met in September 2022 when she worked as a waitress in Charleston, South Carolina. At the time, Liam had been on a US road trip with his friends yet delayed his flight back to London so he could get to know Kate. They booked a hotel room and spent the next two days together, which ended up cementing their romance.

In her interview with the Sun, Kate admitted to receiving a devastating text three days after his death. Kate had been sorting Halloween decorations at home and paid a man to fix their lights while Liam remained in Argentina. He messaged her three days after Liam’s death asking if he had liked his Halloween surprise.

It was in that moment that it hit her that Liam was not coming back. She burst into tears as she admitted she never thought something could happen to Liam and revealed they lived their “own separate lives”. Kate also heartbreakingly admitted that she still calls Liam’s phone to hear his voicemail.

Following his death, Kate would fall asleep listening to his songs, but now she can no longer play any of them. She confessed: “Maybe one day, but not right now.” Paying tribute to her late boyfriend in a heartfelt social media post, Kate revealed they had been hoping to take their relationship to the next level. She said: “A few weeks ago we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it.

“It said: ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444. Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way that we planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me wherever I go. Forever yours, Katelyn, 444.”
