In a world where social media filters and changed images, they often blur the boundary between reality and imagination, the extreme transformations of a young woman shocked the world, which has led many to the question of where fame ends and self-destruction begins.
Iranian woman Sahar Tabar took the concept of self -confidence to disturbing extremes and underwent over 50 plastic operations to resemble the Hollywood icon, Angelina Jolie.
But she really wanted to become “Zombie Angelina Jolie” that the Internet dubbed her, or was it just a sophisticated performance?
Her dramatic appearance and controversy that followed many have left many of them since: was it a cry for attention, an act of rebellion, or an art form too far?
Sahar Tabar, a young woman from Iran, gained extensive attention after undergoing numerous plastic operations in an effort to remind Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie. Its transformation, which included procedures such as liposuction and nasal transformation, lit an online controversy. Sahar, whose real name is Famemeh Khishvand, became known as the Iranian “Zombie Angelina Jolie”. Her extreme appearance, combined with her online presence, led to a ten-year imprisonment.

At the age of 19 years, Sahar reportedly underwent more than 50 operations in an effort to change her appearance. While she never explicitly claimed that her goal was to look like Angelina Jolie, her followers believed differently and showed her dramatic new view of social media. With sharp cheekbones, angular lips, and a changed nose, Sahara’s appearance was strikingly different. However, it is not clear how many operations she actually had, with some speculation that the pictures she published could be digitally changed or heavily modified.
Sahara’s social media has gained massive follow-up, and her Instagram account reached almost four million followers before being deleted. Despite her mother’s disagreement with her online activity, including her controversial photographs, Sahar was determined to gain fame. “Cyberspace was an easy way,” she explained. “It was much easier than becoming an actor.”
Revealing the truth about the appearance
In an interview with the Russian website Sputnik, Sahar explained that her strongly changed appearance was meant as a form of self-expression, which calls him artistic. “Every time I publish a photo, I paint my face in an increasingly funny way,” she said. “My fans know it’s not my real face.” She also explained that she had never focused on looking like Jolie or as “Corps Bide”. “Now I understand resemblance, but I see myself as a muse, not as someone who is remembered,” Sahar said.
Yet the dramatic transformation has led to widespread confusion and misunderstanding among its followers. In October 2019, the Sahar was arrested for the publication of “blasphemous” photos on Instagram and accused of various accusations, including illegal purchase of real estate, incitement of violence, and violations of strict Iranian dressing for women. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison and sent to Qarchak, considered one of the most dangerous prisoners for women in Iran.
Calls on Angelina’s intervention Jolie
Activist Masih Alinajad raised awareness of Sahara’s case on social media and urged Jolie’s real Angelina to hit. “Sahar Tabar is only 19. Her joke landed her in prison,” Alinejad wrote. “Her mother calls every day to liberate her innocent daughter.” Dear Angelina Jolie, we need your voice here. Help us. ”
After being released from 14 months in prison, Sahar was released, reportedly because of the death of Mahsa Amini, which Iranian police arrested and defeated for not keeping the regulations in the country.

The story of Sahara Tabar emphasizes the extremes on which some individuals will strive for glory and self-expression, especially in a society with strict cosmetic standards and regulations. Her attempt to turn into “Zombie Angelina Jolie” not only caused an extensive debate on beauty and identity but also led to serious consequences, including her imprisonment. While the Saharan action and the presence of social media could be misunderstood, they also emphasize the complexity of personal expression in today’s digital world.
Its release after serving 14 months in prison raises issues concerning freedom of expression, human rights, and the power of activism in alerting unfair cases.
