During a Tax Day town hall held near her residence in Rome, Georgia, on Tuesday, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized left-wing demonstrators who clashed with law enforcement while commending the officers for their efforts in maintaining order.
The town hall occurred at the Acworth Community Center, which featured a significant law enforcement presence, including personnel from the Acworth Police Department, Cobb County Police, Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, Kennesaw Police, and Georgia State Patrol. Crime analysts had detected online communications suggesting potential disruptions, leading officials to implement proactive security measures.
Security was stringent throughout the event. Only residents who had pre-registered from Rep. Greene’s district were allowed entry, with identification checked against a registration list. The venue’s location remained undisclosed until registration was confirmed. Despite these rigorous protocols, Greene asserted her openness to constituents from all political affiliations, as reported by Fox5.
Prior to the event’s commencement, a group of protesters assembled outside the venue, displaying signs that criticized Rep. Greene and the Trump administration. The demonstrators expressed their discontent with the northwest Georgia congresswoman, chanting slogans such as “Hey hey, ho ho, MTG must go.” The Acworth Police Department stated, “As soon as the Congresswoman began her presentation, several audience members became disruptive, posing an immediate public safety threat to all present. Their intentions were evident — to place our dedicated police department in a no-win situation in front of numerous media outlets.”
Authorities reported that six attendees were removed from the event without incident. However, Fox5 indicated that three individuals were arrested for allegedly threatening officers, resisting removal physically, and causing disturbances during the altercation.
Among those arrested, one was from Atlanta, while the other two hailed from Dallas, raising questions about their presence at the Georgia Republican’s town hall intended for her district’s residents.
Greene addressed the chaos that ensued during the event.Greene addressed the crowd shortly after one of the disruptions, stating, “If you wish to shout and chant, we will have you removed just like that individual.”
In a post on X, she shared a video clip showing a protester exhibiting violent behavior and being apprehended by law enforcement, asserting, “To those who questioned or criticized the police at my town hall last night, the EXCELLENT police officers acted in accordance with protocol and ensured the safety of everyone present by maintaining order!!!!!” She further remarked:
These protesters were irrational and confrontational, losing their composure the moment the town hall commenced.
The media is aware of this, as it unfolded right before their eyes!!
Had this been a Democratic town hall, the national headlines would likely have read:
“UNRULY MAGA INSURRECTION AT DEMOCRATIC TOWN HALL!”
Instead, we see headlines like, “Man tased at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s town hall.”
We possess ample video evidence that clearly demonstrates the protesters were disorderly, engaging in fights and resisting law enforcement. I fully support our courageous police officers for the incredibly challenging work they perform daily.
Few professions are as demanding as theirs, impacting not only them but also their families.
Police officers deserve higher salaries, improved pensions, and the gratitude and respect of everyone!!!
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. Fox5 reported on the three individuals who were arrested, including:
–Andrew Russell Nelms, 40, from Atlanta, charged with simple battery against a law enforcement officer and obstruction.
–Johnny Keith Williams, 45, from Dallas, facing the same battery charge and felony obstruction.
–Kiyana Name Davis, 28, also from Dallas, charged with violating a city ordinance due to the use of vulgar language.
