Today started like any other day, but little did I know that my life was about to change forever. As I walked through the park, I stumbled upon a scene that stopped me in my tracks: a child, tied up, with a bag next to him containing his belongings. His eyes were filled with terror, sadness, and shock.
I didn’t stop to think about whether I had the space at home, whether I could handle the responsibility, what my husband would say, or if someone else might come along to help. I just knew I had to act. I untied him, hugged him, and told him everything would be okay. I reassured him that I understood his fear and that he was safe now.
I’m sharing this story and his photo to show the world the look of sheer terror and sadness in his eyes. This poor child, abandoned and alone, needed someone to step up and offer a safe haven.
Today, we are becoming a family. I hope that our embrace can begin to heal the trauma he has endured. Let’s come together and spread love and compassion for those who need it most.
